I get it. Every day can seem a bit daunting. And no doubt it feels great to Rx the WOD. But are you listening? Do you hear what the stimulus of the workout is when the coach is going over it?
We are going to be mixing things up a bit at CrossFit LoDo coming up, nothing major, but some changes we hope make the workout what it is intended to be for everyone doing it that day. But we need something from you. Trust us.
Sometimes going all out isn’t what we are looking for. Sometimes the percentages may feel a bit easy. Sometimes we want you to pace a certain way so we are training different energy systems than going all out and then falling off the mountain.
But beyond that, never, ever let your ego get in the way. Remember, even the Rx version is a scaled version of someone else’s workout.
If there is a timecap, always modify to try and finish within it. If you need to go lighter, DO! If you need to do fewer reps, thats ok too. Listen to how long we want you working and what the workout should feel like.
When we tested Helen this week, did you finish under the cap? Were you focusing on your running pace?
We have discussed a lot of mapping and paying attention and goal setting, well this is one of those process goals. If you think that the only way you’re going to get a good workout in is doing Rx, well you’re wrong unless you think that Rx is a moving target for all of us and then you get a gold star. As always gold stars can be exchanged for high fives in class.
So, when you see the workout, start to scheme. But then listen to what it is you are supposed to do. We intend to have a lot more to say coming up, and more and better options for you as well. So stay tuned. And, as always. come in and have fun.
