Who are you?
Tennessean by birth, Southern by the grace of God. Originally from Nashville, TN, I moved to Colorado in 2011 after graduating with a Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Tennessee. I have never looked back since moving to Denver. I enjoy college football (especially the Tennessee Volunteers), neon snapback bro hats, a solid button up, and moderately aggressive short shorts.
Why do you CrossFit?
I’m somewhat competitive in all facets of life and attribute this to playing multiple sports from a young age. I’ve played soccer since the age of 3 and continue to do so competitively today. In high school I played soccer, wrestled, and ran cross country. I’ve completed a full marathon and love trying new things to push myself athletically.
Even though I was intimidated initially, I was introduced to CrossFit by some friends who recently tried it. That day turned into the most sore I’ve been after a workout, ever. I couldn’t get enough of it. There are skills, lifts, benchmark time/weights, and movements that I am constantly working to improve. I love seeing my progress as well as pushing others to meet new goals and achievements. The CrossFit community hones in on this element and it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
Why do I CrossFit at CFLD?
There are other gyms that are closer, have newer equipment, and maybe some other features I’m not aware of, but I keep coming back to CFLD because of the service. There’s an awareness here that everyone matters and an openness that everyone is entitled to the same things. Coaching here is something I look forward to weekly. It challenges me to prepare mentally and stimulates the competitive drive I have passion for instilling in others. I love pushing others to get more out of them than even they thought they had. CFLD really enhances this from and early onset and it has changed my views forever on physical fitness.
