Who are you?
I grew up in Ft. Collins, CO doing a whole lot of hiking, biking, camping, and all those cool Colorado activities. When I was 12 I moved to NH where I learned how to take care of farm animals, and most importantly, to snowboard. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 2014, I moved back to CO to work at the University of CO Hospital, where I will also be going to grad school in the fall. I love rollerblading, bikes, coffee, deadlifts, and reading.
Why do you Crossfit?
I never played any competitive sports, but thankfully found Crossfit at the beginning of 2013. Coming from the world of bootcamp, running, and spin classes, I was searching for a challenge, and I knew I had found it before my first Crossfit class was even over. There’s certainly something to be said about a sport that makes you a little better everyday and feel a little more badass everyday. It’s empowering to learn how to set goals, reach goals, and discover that you’re capable of more than you imagined. I think that Socrates’ quote “what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength for which his body is capable,” is extra incredibly accurate. Coaching became my new passion once I discovered how to pass on this mentality to others.
Why do you Crossfit at CFLD
Spend one day at CFLD, and this question will answer itself. On my first day in as a drop-in, Ryan said something along the lines of “I don’t set rules here.” The way that I interpret this, is that you can truly be whoever you want to be in this gym. Whether you want to compete, lose wieght, maintain an active lifestyle, or just make some really great friends, you will belong at CFLD.
